Enhancing Multi-Hazard Early Warning System to increase resilience of Uzbekistan communities to climate change induced hazards
In March 2021 the 28th meeting of the Board of the Green Climate Fund approved the project “Enhancing Multi-Hazard Early Warning System to increase resilience of Uzbekistan communities to climate change induced hazards”. The $10M project will modernise capacities at Uzhydromet to observe and forecast climate-related disasters and will help the Ministry of Emergency Situations better warn people and organisations in affected areas about risks to lives, homes, infrastructure and livelihoods. The project will also support the development in Uzbekistan of a National Framework for Climate Services and of a new economic model for efficiently bringing such services to people and businesses. Zoï team has been key to project development, supporting a UNDP team that will now implement the project together with the government of Uzbekistan.
